COURSE SCHEDULE INFORMATION
SCHEDULING ERRORS: The only schedule changes that will be granted during Prep Days and during the first week of school are mistakes that are in a schedule. Examples of mistakes include: a student may not be in a class needed for graduation; a student may be in a course that he/she has already passed; counselors may receive a list from a teacher/coach to place a student in a particular Band, Choir, sport, etc., or a student may need to work and be moved into a Co-Op program. These types of changes are extremely important, and counselors will do their best to accommodate students as soon as possible.
CHANGE OF MIND: This type of change will begin after the first week of school. If a class is full, we will not be able to accommodate changes to a student’s schedule. Due to staffing, textbooks, and class enrollment, mind changes cannot be granted after September 3rd.
LEVEL CHANGES: According to the ADVANCED LEVEL COURSE AGREEMENT, the teacher may recommend that a student be changed into a regular class if that student is encountering great difficulty with the rigorous content of the course. Students are expected to use all possible resources available to them before considering a course level change, such as completing all assignments, tutoring, and conferencing with the teacher. Because of this, any level change would take place at the end of the first three weeks, nine weeks, or semester. A parent-teacher-counselor communication is required prior to withdrawal from the course.
ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- All outstanding fines and textbook obligations must be cleared prior to proceeding through prep day.
- If you have had a change of address over the summer, you must provide a new proof of residence. If you live in a home, we will need an electric or water bill only (must be current). If you live in an apartment, we must have the lease contract with your student’s name on the contract (all pages must be included and current).
- Lack of current immunization records will prevent you from completing PREP DAYS and attending school. Please check the NEISD website under Health Services for immunization requirements.
- Returning students need to bring their Student ID or $5.00 to purchase a replacement. - All students will be required to have their IDs in their possession while on campus. Cafeteria purchases and library access requires students to show his/her ID.
- Students are expected to dress appropriately according the NEISD Dress Code during Prep Days.
- Cash or Checks will be accepted (payable to JMHS)
It is our goal to make your experience at James Madison High School as rewarding as possible, and I look forward to meeting you.
